SEMINARS WILL COVER:

An overview of the acupuncturist roll in the Workers Compensation system, how to increase referrals from Primary Treating Physicians, an understanding of MTUS (Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule), how to greatly improve the approval rate of your requests, effectively appeal denials, etc.   In addition, you will be able to acquire clinical skills to diagnose and treat your patients effectively. Personal cases will be discussed so the provider can better understand why care was not approved-paid and what can be done about it. Please feel free to bring cases as there will be an open floor for discussion.

INSTRUCTORS:

Alejandro Katz, OMD. L. Ac. has over 40 years of experience in the acupuncture field; 25+ years in Workers Compensation and for 20+ years with Utilization Review companies.

Gary Jacob, DC, LAc, MPH, DipMDT received a DC degree from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1978 and graduated the California Acupuncture College in 1981. In 1991, he became the 12th individual and first licensed chiropractor and/or acupuncturist to receive the Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute International.  In 2003, he graduated from UCLA with the degree of Master of Public Health (MPH) in Community Health Education and Promotion. Dr. Jacob has authored multiple textbook chapters regarding the McKenzie Method (MDT) and has taught internationally.

Kathy Agharabei, LVN. (Nurse Case Manager) has broad experience in Workers Compensation acupuncture authorizations. Kathy receives over 80% in approvals-certifications for her acupuncture requests.
